Working on a college essay?

Make yours stand out.

There is a clear difference between an AI-generated piece of writing and one that has a human story. Recruiters look for the latter. If you’re not sure which idea is best or how to craft a memorable essay, I can help navigate the process.

I’ve worked with students who’ve been accepted at Tulane, Bowdoin, Colorado School of Mines, Cornell, Brown/RISD, University of California, William & Mary, University of Colorado, Colorado College, St. Andrews (Scotland), Penn, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, University of Montana, and Columbia, among others. Colleges have become more competitive, and the personal essay is an essential component of the application process. Make your essay unforgettable!

In addition to being an award-winning author, I taught English and Creative Writing at Colorado Mountain College and have published numerous articles, essays, and columns. I teach local writing, journaling, and art classes in Silverthorne, CO, and the Vail Valley. I also donate time and energy to community non-profit organizations.

My editing process is individualized. After an initial phone call, I send questions and prompts to begin brainstorming ideas. If the student already has a draft, we launch directly into a series of back-and-forth writing/editing with additional consultations via phone and email. I edit for content, grammar, overall pace, and power of the idea. Rather than demanding a package fee, I offer an hourly rate with updates about the student’s progression, so costs are manageable.

Testimonials:

Working with Carrie was great. She never took more than a day or two to respond, and she always had tons of edits and suggestions that I would have never caught myself.  She found every typo in my paper and was not just an editor—she tried to get more information about me to improve the overall story. I 100% recommend working with her as she is very passionate about what she does.
Her goal is helping her students succeed and nothing less.
Carrie cares about you and improving your skills. I had a great experience working with Carrie and would strongly recommend.
