I’m breaking from my usual creative content to issue a news alert. In addition to teaching, writing, and creating art, I am a skilled editor who has worked with clients on various projects. This time of year, I help students perfect their college essays.
When it comes to technology, students are often more in the know than their parents, and they’re apt to rely on artificial intelligence to create their essays. However, there’s a clear difference between an AI-generated piece of writing and one with a human story. Recruiters look for the latter.
Teachers rarely have the time to dig deep and ask personal questions that help perfect a student’s college essay. When students work with me, I help polish their work so it showcases their skills, personality, and uniqueness.
My editing process goes beyond grammar and sentence structure. After an initial phone call, I send questions and prompts to help generate ideas. If the student already has a draft, we launch into a series of writing/editing emails with additional consultations via phone and email. Rather than demanding a package fee, I offer an hourly rate with updates about the student’s progression, so costs are manageable.
